RN Admission Assessment
This computer-based test, also known as HESI or A2, is timed at 3 1/2 hours, and covers math, reading, and grammar. Other parts of the test, such as vocabulary and the sciences, are not administered.
Eligibility: Current or prospective CSU students applying for admission to the School of Nursing.
Scores: A score report is provided at the end of the test. The School of Nursing has access to your scores and will advise you of passing scores.
Retesting: Students can take the test twice per calendar year with at least 6 weeks between attempts.
Test preparation: The nursing program recommends the Admission Assessment Study Guide, available through most bookstores.
Payment: $70. Appointments are required. Payment is due when you schedule your appointment. When you schedule, you must confirm that you have read, and will abide by, our payment policies.
ID requirements: You must present an unexpired government-issued photo ID with signature--driver's license, passport, military ID, state ID. The first name and last name(s) on your identification must exactly match the first name and last name(s) on your CSU application.
Items needed for the test: We will provide you with scratch paper and pencil. Physical calculators are not permitted but a calculator is built into the test.

To schedule your appointment to test on campus at the Columbus State University Testing Center, click here . Read the instructions, and then select RN Admission Assessment (A2) from the dropdown menu.
To test at a location outside of the Columbus region: If you live outside of the Columbus area and want to test closer to home, click here to complete the remote testing registration form. We will then email you instructions on how to take the test at a Prometric Testing Center. No payment to CSU is required, as you will pay Prometric a test fee.
